On February 1, as part of the event, the track "Microscopy in Biological Research" for high school students started at the Department of Biology and Bioresources of the Murmansk Arctic University. Research scientists from MMBI RAS and PINRO served as lecturers for schoolchildren from Murmansk, Kandalaksha, and Kaliningrad. Under the guidance of MMBI RAS Algology Laboratory Senior Researcher, Candidate of Biological Sciences Svetlana Kolbeeva, high school students conducted species identification of marine algae using light microscopy and taxonomic databases.

On February 4, at the MMBI RAS, staff from the plankton and algology laboratories held scientific and educational events for the track "Chemical Analysis of Natural Waters and Composition of Hydrobionts" for students from Murmansk, Moscow, and St. Petersburg. Senior Researcher, Candidate of Biological Sciences Dmitry Pugovkin gave a lecture on "Hydrocarbon-Oxidizing Microorganisms in Monitoring Oil Pollution of the Aquatic Environment". Plankton researcher Tatyana Ishkulova gave a lecture on "Determining Pollutants in Natural Waters." Under the guidance of Senior Researcher, Candidate of Biological Sciences Inna Ryzhik, students analyzed seawater and snow for petroleum product content using a Flyurat-02M analyzer. At the master class by algae researcher Maria Klindukh on determining biogenic elements in water, seawater was analyzed for the content of Nitrogen and Phosphorus compounds.
