Murmansk Hosts Annual "Geographical Dictation" Event

On November 19, Murmansk Arctic University (MAU) served as a venue for the 10th anniversary international "Geographical Dictation" – an educational initiative by the Russian Geographical Society (RGS) designed to promote geographical knowledge both in Russia and abroad.

This year marked the first participation of several countries including Bahrain, Burkina Faso, Guinea-Bissau, Qatar, Libya, and the Philippines. A total of 270 testing sites operated across 118 countries, featuring diverse locations such as Rolfontein Nature Reserve (Republic of South Africa), Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Sydney (Australia), Shevchenko Transnistria State University (Transnistrian Moldovan Republic), RGS Center in India.

The MAU event opened with welcoming words from Chairman of the Murmansk Regional Duma Sergey Dubovoy, Acting Director of the «Directorate of Special Protected Areas»
Alexander Loktev, Chairman of the Murmansk Branch of RGS and Deputy Director for Science at MMBI RAS Denis Moiseev.
