On February 10, MMBI RAS researches held a scientific and educational event "Environmental Monitoring" for 8th-graders of School No. 44. The eighth-graders are EMERCOM cadets, future rescue workers. Representatives of the Institute's laboratories introduced the children to the basics of their work and demonstrated scientific equipment. Anastasia Vashchenko spoke about marine plankton and methods of its research, Svetlana Kolbeeva spoke about the marine forests of the Arctic (macroalgae), Anastasia Gurba spoke about bird counts, Pavel Vashchenko explained why biologists need drones, Oleg Bondarev spoke about ichthyology as a science, and Alyona Noskovich spoke about the study of the seabed.
