Participants of "Motobukhta-2025" Visited the MMBI RAS Biological Station in Dalniye Zelentsy

2 сентября 2025

"Motobukhta" is the northernmost motorcycle travelers' rally in Russia, annually charting routes through hard-to-reach corners of the Kola Peninsula. Its goal is to draw attention to the unique nature, history, and culture of the Russian North. The event is held with the support of the Murmansk Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society.

In July 2025, rally participants reached the coast of the Barents Sea and visited the Biological Station of Murmansk Marine Biological Institute in Dalniye Zelentsy. A tour of Dalniye Zelentsy was conducted for them by MMBI RAS researchers Grigory Voskoboynikov, Maxim Mityaev, and Marina Gerasimova. Professor Grigory Voskoboynikov also gave a mini-lecture on Arctic algae – their features, benefits, and biotechnologies being developed based on them.

Details of the journey on the RGS website.
