In honor of the 180th anniversary of the Russian Geographical Society, a symbolic ascent of Mount Vudyavrchorr along the Geographers' Trail on a bearing of 180 degrees took place in the Khibiny Mountains. The event was organized by the Murmansk Regional Branch of the RGS.

The Chairman of the branch, MMBI RAS Deputy Director for Science Denis Moiseev, was one of the event's key organizers. He conducted a briefing on terrain orientation for the participants, explaining the principles of working with a magnetic compass and determining the direction to the south (180°) using a watch and the sun.

Long-standing friends of the RGS, the Polar-Alpine Botanical Garden-Institute of N.A. Avrorin (PABGI KSC RAS), played an important role in the event. Institute staff members Evgeny Borovichev, Viktor Petrov, Olga Petrova, and Taisiya Poloshevets acted as guide-instructors, ensuring the safety and educational component of the ascent.

The event was held with financial support from the Executive Directorate. Beautiful photos and details of the event are on the RGS website.
