A CONVENIENT ELECTRONIC RESOURCE "ATLAS OF CLIMATE CHANGES IN LARGE MARINE ECOSYSTEMS OF THE NORTHERN HEMISPHERE" BEGUN TO WORK

03.07.2017

Scientists of Southern Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences have created a new electronic resource where the Atlas of Climate Changes in Large Marine Ecosystems of the Northern Hemisphere (1878-2013) is located in a convenient and easily accessible form - joint project of Southern Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Murmansk Marine Biological Institute. The site provides access to primary oceanographic data on the Barents and White, Kara, Laptev, East Siberian, Chukchee, Azov, Black and Caspian Seas. In addition to primary oceanographic data, the Atlas contains results of their processing to identify climatic variability of hydrological processes in the Arctic and in the southern region. For key hydrological sections of the Barents, Black, Azov and Caspian seas, vertical average climate salinity and water temperature distributions and their anomalies were constructed for each month of each year, provided with data and for characteristic periods. This information can be found in the headings "LME of the Eastern Arctic Seas " and "LME of the South of Russia Seas"
